Land Acknowledgement

At the heart of Earth Stories’ mission is for human beings to connect, deeply and personally, with nature for a greener, more compassionate future. We cannot support and nurture this mission if we deny or ignore the past. We are committed to acknowledging our part (especially as descendants of white, settler-colonialists), and we are committed to being a part of reparations and healing for a more just and loving world in harmony with nature.

We acknowledge that we are on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded land of the Lenape People who have stewarded this land, Leanaphoking, throughout generations. We pay respect to the elders of both the past and present.

We reflect on the generations of people and experiences that have created this moment in time: the people who lived on this land for more generations than can be counted, the people who were brought here against their will, and the people who came here looking for a different life. These histories of violence and genocide, displacements, and settlements bring us together. And we are committed to honoring these truths and confronting the ongoing legacy of settler colonialism in our work.

We honor the Lenape People in all our work, especially in the very connection we strive to nurture in nature. We hold up a welcome sign to Lenape People to come back to their homeland, and we commit to supporting their rightful return through education, programming, financial support, and building connections.

We also would like to express our deepest gratitude to The Lenape Center in their guidance, wisdom, and leadership in seeding “the ground with Lenape consciousness for the next generations.”
